Project Description:

ELIA Architecture was the principal architectural consultant as part of the D+C Construction team with Hutchinson Builders, to document and supervise the construction of the new library.

Preliminary concept design and tender documents were prepared for TRC by JCA & Peddle Thorp Architects in association.

The new building is a state of the art library, with community rooms, end of trip facility, kid’s area, teenager’s area, seniors services, tech hub, internet services, administrative services, immunisation clinic, local history archive, café and basement carpark.

Hutchinson Builders were awarded the D&C contract in September 2014. ELIA documented the building in stages to satisfy client requirements for 75% completion by Christmas 2014 and 100% completion by end of January 2015. This included a fly through presentation.

ELIA met all the required time deadlines, thus enabling the library to be handed over on time to the client.

ELIA was instrumental in ensuring the project budget was maintained and not inflated. In fact the project was delivered considerably under the $24m TRC budget.
