The new Breastscreen Toowoomba premises are currently under construction, with Hutchinson Builders having been appointed as head contractor. The new Breastscreen facility is being constructed inside the recently completed 661 Ruthven St building.
The brief for Breastscreen required a like for like replacement of space from the Toowoomba Hospital to the off-site location, with additional spaces provided as required to cater for increased workload.
The fitout includes provision of office spaces, reception and waiting areas, as well as a variety of clinical space including mammography rooms, ultrasound rooms and general consult areas.
One of the primary design intentions was to provide a premises for the service that had less of a ‘clinical feel’. The colours of the Breastscreen brand, in combination with a more natural material palette, were used in the design to achieve this.
